(ABC 6 News) - Two men are in custody after a standoff at an Austin hotel on Sunday.
Just after 4 a.m., Austin Police, Mower County Sheriff’s Department went to the Holiday Inn for a weapon-involved assault.
Upon arrival, officers learned there were multiple suspects inside the hotel room. A victim told dispatchers that they were unable to leave because one of the men had a firearm.
Officers established phone contact with the suspects, and after 2 hours were able to get the two men to surrender. Two men were taken into custody and are being held in the Mower County Jail pending formal charges.

Austin man to stand trial for heroin sales

AUSTIN, Minn. – A trial date is set for a Mower County man accused of selling heroin.
Michael Thomas Barren, 24 of Austin, was arrested in June and charged with two counts of second-degree sale of heroin. Authorities say Barren met with a confidential informant in March and April and Barren sold in the informant a total of 4.4 grams of heroin. Court documents state both drug sales happened in Austin.
Barren’s trial is scheduled to start on January 24, 2022. He remains in the Mower County Jail on $100,000 bond.
