Michigan Medicine vaccinates first employees for COVID-19 ANN ARBOR, Mich. Michigan Medicine began vaccinating people against COVID-19 today with an initial group of five frontline workers. The first employee vaccinated, Johnnie Peoples, is a registered nurse with Survival Flight, Michigan Medicine’s critical care transport program. The others who received vaccinations today are a registered nurse in the Emergency Department, a physician in Infectious Diseases, a physician in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and a resident physician in Internal Medicine. Today’s initial shipment included 1,950 doses of the Pfizer Inc./BioNTech vaccine. Michigan Medicine, the academic medical center of the University of Michigan, expects to vaccinate about 40 employees beginning Tuesday and ramping up the volume further as early as next week, depending on supply

Toddler survives after having an eight-inch chopstick rammed into his throat in China

A little boy in China has cheated death after an eight-inch chopstick spiked through his throat in an accident. The two-year-old, nicknamed Lin Lin, was eating an apple on the wooden stick while riding a bicycle when he lost balance and fell onto the utensil, reported local media.  The chopstick rammed through Lin Lin s throat and got stuck there. It was said to be lodged in Lin Lin s neck so deep that doctors could see it protruding at the back of his neck under his skin.  The two-year-old (pictured), nicknamed Lin Lin, was eating an apple on the wooden stick while riding a bicycle when he fell and thrust the chopstick into his skull, reported local media
