Auburn freshman Evins poised for dynamic college experience on the Plains Published: April 14, 2021 Decrease Font Size Font Size Increase Font Size Donovan Evins is not your typical college freshman. The 18-year-old Meridian, Mississippi, native arrived at Auburn University last fall full of hope, promise and big goals, and he has hit the ground running on the Plains. Evins, a medical laboratory science major, has become involved in EMERGE at Auburn a student leadership group committed to helping Auburn students develop leadership skills they can use on campus, in their communities and eventually in their chosen career fields. In addition, he is a regular at the Office of Student Involvement and serves on the Black Student Union, or BSU, Freshman Committee.

Two University Of Alabama Students Named Goldwater Scholars

Here s a look at the two promising students, with bios provided by the University of Alabama: Anna Stevenson is a Randall Research Scholar studying mechanical engineering from Tall Timbers, Maryland. Stevenson, a student in UA s Honors College, has worked under Drs. Joshua Bittle and Ajay Agrawal to characterize properties of biomass-based fuels and fuel blends for use in low-emissions, advanced compression ignition (diesel) engines. She plans on pursuing a doctorate in mechanical engineering with the goal of conducting research in sustainable alternative energy sources for low-emission vehicles, either with a national or governmental lab or in combination with teaching as a university professor. Outside of research, Stevenson is the Southeast Student Regional Chair of the American Society of Mechanical Engineer s International Student Section Enterprise Committee, a member of UA s chapter of Pi Tau Sigma, a mechanical engineering honor society, and volunteers as a local high schoo
