Waddy Reflects on 56 Years of Service to Alabama

Dr. Paul Waddy loves to tell stories.
He could spend hours, if not days or weeks, chronicling his 56 years with what is now the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES). Chances are that he would relish every second of those opportunities.
Waddy, who is retiring as State Leader, Diversity & Multicultural Affairs for ACES, is enjoying a well-deserved opportunity for honor and reflection. On a recent January afternoon, he sat outside of Duncan Hall – the headquarters of ACES on Auburn University’s campus – and shared several tales with a small but captivated audience. (With proper physical distancing, of course.)

AUBURN UNIVERSITY, Ala. – Whether an amateur gardener or seasoned agriculturalist, there is no denying that pests can sometimes sneak in and ruin a crop. These pests may appear in the form of insects, weeds or plant diseases and all can be detrimental. Current and former Alabama Cooperative Extension System entomologists, weed scientists, plant pathologists and a pesticide education specialist have compiled an updated list of 2021 integrated pest management guides to keep these pests out of your crop.
What are IPM Guides?
IPM guides, or integrated pest management guides, are updated annually with information usually pertaining to herbicides, insecticides and fungicides that can be used to manage pests on plants.

Alabama Center for the Arts
The 7th annual juried Festival of the Cranes Exhibit is underway through Friday, Feb. 19, presented by the Alabama Center for the Arts in Decatur. The exhibit is a walking gallery held in conjunction with the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge Association. The exhibit features artwork inspired by cranes and other wildlife.
