Crews were sent to the Valley River Ingredients facility after the fire was reported at about 12:35 p.m., The Cullman Timessaid. The flames created a large volume of smoke. As the response got underway, local firefighters called for assistance from 26 area fire departments, according to coverage by The Cullman Tribune. Officials told the newspaper that grease and animal by-products were apparently involved in the fire.
