Possible human remains found in Talladega County Updated Dec 25, 2020; Talladega County authorities are investigating the discovery of possible human remains near the line with Clay County. According to the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, a hunter reported a “suspicious campsite” in a wooded area off Alabama 148 around 3:30 pm. Wednesday. Deputies responded and found possible human remains about an hour later. The scene was secured overnight. This morning, Talladega County Coroner Shaddix Murphy recovered the remains, accompanied by investigators who processed the area. The remains will be transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for identification and to determine the cause of death.

Alabama poultry worker killed by co-worker shooting at stray chickens, authorities say Updated Dec 22, 2020; A 51-year-old Alabama man was shot to death in a Covington County chicken house ever the weekend. Covington County sheriff’s officials on Tuesday identified the victim as Robin Early Phillips. Investigators with the sheriff’s office and the district attorney’s office responded about 4 p.m. Sunday the poultry farm in the Friendship community, said Chief Deputy Todd Grimes. When they arrived on the scene, they found the victim, who lived in Elba, dead. Grimes said the shooting happened inside a structure that housed thousands of chickens. The investigation showed that one of the victim’s co-workers was shooting at stray chickens located underneath a subfloor in the poultry house. Phillips was underneath the subfloor removing dead chickens at the time of the incident.

(WSFA) - A person is dead after a shooting at a poultry farm in Covington County, the sheriff’s office announced Tuesday. According to Sheriff Blake Turman, deputies were called around 4 p.m. to the poultry farm, located in the Friendship Community, on a report that someone had been shot. When they arrived, they found Robin Earl Phillips, 51 of Elba, had been fatally shot by a co-worker. Turman says the shooting happened inside a poultry house that contained several thousand chickens. An investigation revealed that the co-worker was shooting stray chickens located underneath a subfloor while Phillips was removing the deceased chickens.
