Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs Now has Virtual Hearing Options

Alabama News Updated: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people communicate with face to face interactions being limited. The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs is no exception. ADVA has had to adapt to the pandemic with the launch of virtual hearings in its Appeals & Review Division. Before the pandemic, an Alabama veteran had the options of appealing a claim by traveling to Montgomery for an in-person hearing, have a team travel to their home, or have no hearing at all. The new program allows the Veterans Affairs office to conduct the hearings virtually and in a timely manner. The pandemic has forced in-person hearings, either in Montgomery or at a veteran’s home, to no longer exist.
