Alamance County criminal court reopens Monday without inmates

A COVID-19 outbreak among five employees in the J.B. Allen Courthouse suspended criminal court proceedings from Wednesday to Friday. Senior Superior Court Judge Tom Lambeth announced Friday he would reopen courts Monday after consulting with the health department and judicial leadership team. The Alamance County Detention Center is still dealing with a worsening outbreak now affecting 81, including 62 inmates and 19 staff. “We will still not be able to bring any inmates to court from the jail, but will handle any inmate matters remotely,” Lambeth wrote.
