Woman sentenced in case where man was reportedly lured to Mebane, assaulted and kidnapped On Tuesday, Brittney Darnell pleaded guilty to first-degree kidnapping and was sentenced on that charge.  The charge came from an incident in May 2019 when Darnell lured the victim to Clover Creek Mobile Home Park in Mebane, the Sheriff s Office said. Darnell and the man had met online.  Darnell s two children and two neighbor s children were inside asleep. Darnell s boyfriend, Samuel Murrell, and his friend, David Richardson, were also inside.  When the victim arrived at the home, Murrell and Richardson assaulted him with a baseball bat and tire iron, robbing him in the process, according to a press release from the Sheriff s Office.
