RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA As school districts across Riverside County work toward reopening, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday the state is reserving 10 percent of all COVID-19 vaccine doses for teachers and educators in an effort to expedite campus restarts.
Newsom made the announcement during a news briefing at the Alameda County Office of Education, explaining the state s baseline will be at least 75,000 doses set aside on a weekly basis for educators. It s not clear how many doses will be earmarked for Riverside County educators.
Piedmont Unified elementary schools begin a return to the classroom with hybrid learning

PIEDMONT, Calif. - For the first time in almost a year, in-class instruction was held in some classrooms in the Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD) on Tuesday, making it the first big school district in Alameda County to have students back in the classroom.
The district began hybrid instruction, starting with Kindergarteners at Beach, Wildwood, and Frank C. Havens elementary schools. The return to classrooms will be rolled out in a staggered model, with first graders coming back on Wednesday and second graders to attend class on Thursday.

For International Day of Education on Sunday, the Maktab Tarighat Oveyssi, or MTO, Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism in Berkeley hosted a virtual roundtable discussion on the meaning of education and teachers’ needs.
The MTO Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism is a global nonprofit organization with more than 30 centers, according to discussion host and spokesperson Mina Karimabadi.
