A Bay Point man, upset over President Biden’s win, was arrested Tuesday after he threatened to hurt relatives of a member of Congress and a family member of a journalist, according to federal authorities.
Robert Lemke, 35, is accused of sending threatening text messages on Jan. 6, the day a mob loyal to former President Donald Trump took over the U.S. Capitol, to family members of the congressional representative and a relative of the journalist. The criminal complaint filed in Manhattan federal court does not name the individuals whose relatives were targeted, but the New York Times reported they were Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., and ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos.
