2 Alaskans ski into men s top 20 at world cross-country championships

Feb. 28—Alaska skiers Scott Patterson and David Norris enjoyed top-of-the-world feelings Saturday at the Nordic World Ski Championships, where both turned in top-20 performances in the men's 30-kilometer skiathlon. Patterson finished 14th and Norris placed 17th to lead the American men. In the women's 15K skiathlon, Jessie Diggins led the United States in 15th place. Anchorage's Hailey Swirbul .

He will succeed Sheri Buretta, who will remain Chugach’s chairman of the board and interim CEO. Fenza has a 20-year tenure with the corporation’s largest government contracting business, Chugach Government Solutions and most recently served as vice president of Business Intelligence and Innovation, during which he pioneered technology transformation efforts designed to reduce costs and streamline efficiencies for the organization. Prior to that, he advanced through a variety of operations and subsidiary president roles. He has a bachelor’s degree from University of Central Florida and an MBA from Florida Institute of Technology.

Photo courtesy of the US Park Service The Tanana Chiefs Conference, the governing body of the Dena’ Nena’ Henash nonprofit corporation in central Alaska, has chartered Denali College, the newest tribal college. Officially established in February 2019, the institution is located in Fairbanks, the largest city in Alaska’s interior. Outside the city’s borders, the Dena’ Nena’ Henash corporation covers some 235,000 square miles a land mass nearly the size of Texas. There are six subregions of the Dena’ Nena’ Henash with 36 tribes, but they are united by a common culture and language family, Na-Dene (also known as Athabascan), as well as the sacred Denali the highest mountain in North America.
