Biden acknowledges likely failure as he reverses refugee cap policy

AP Photo/Evan Vucci Joe Biden issued a statement Monday that he is reversing his decision to retain the Trump administration’s cap on refugees. Just last month, Biden announced he would keep Trump’s cap in place. The cap on the number of refugees will be raised from 15,000 to 62,500. Why now? Biden is in a tight spot with both progressives and conservatives over the crisis on the southern border. The humanitarian and public health crisis is of his own making because he has moved quickly to reverse most of the Trump administration’s border policies that were working. Biden just wants to show that he is not Donald Trump and it doesn’t matter to him that he is sacrificing border security and the sovereignty of the United States to do so.

Some GOP governors refuse to house migrant children

Some GOP governors refuse to house migrant children By Kristian Hernández, Stateline.org Text size Copy shortlink: FORT WORTH, Texas – The federal foster care system was unprepared to house the record nearly 19,000 unaccompanied children who came to the United States in March, so the Biden administration asked some states to temporarily house them. GOP governors in Iowa, Nebraska, South Carolina, South Dakota and Wyoming said no. The governors claim that unaccompanied children would displace those already in state foster care or limit states ability to make new placements. Nebraska is declining their request because we are reserving our resources for serving our kids, Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts said in an April 13 news release. I do not want our kids harmed as the result of President Biden s bad policies.
