US can t do two things at once : Biden on not immediately raising refugee cap

‘US can’t do two things at once’: Biden on not immediately raising refugee cap US President Joe Biden on Saturday explained his initial decision to not increase the limit on refugee admissions to the United States stating that his administration “couldn’t do two things at once”. Biden while speaking to reporters in Delaware said that he couldn’t initially increase the cap due to burdens that the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is facing because of a rise in unaccompanied child migrants at the southern US border. “We’re going to increase the number. The problem was that the refugee part was working on the crisis that ended up on the border with young people,” Biden said according to a White House pool report, as cited by The Hill.

Houston shelter for migrant girls abruptly closed after HHS staffer suddenly dies

(AP Photo/Marco Ugarte) An emergency intake site (EIS) that housed 450 to 500 unaccompanied minors, all-female, abruptly closed Saturday in Houston. This followed an incident Friday night. A “flurry of activity” was seen Saturday as buses arrived and left the shelter with the girls. Boxes and computers were seen being carried out by workers. An adult staffer from HHS suddenly died Friday night at the shelter. Authorities cite privacy policies and declined to comment on the staffer’s death. The transfer of the girls is not related to the death, authorities say. The agency isn’t giving details on why the girls are being moved.
