9 & 10 News April 28, 2021 Prosecutors say Seth Andrew helped create New York-based charter schools back in 2005. In 2013, Andrew became senior advisor in the Office of Educational Technology in the Obama administration. At the time he was still getting paid by the school network until cutting ties in 2017. Andrew is accused of stealing $218,000 dollars from the schools in 2019 by using an email address affiliated with them and convincing a banker he was still involved with the school network. Prosecutors say Andrew stole the money to get a lower interest rate on a mortgage for an apartment in Manhattan. He was released on bond yesterday after his first court appearance.
