The goal is to develop a framework to draw young people to live and work in rural Kansas. The partnership designed to keep young people in Kansas needs more young people to interview.
The Kansas PowerUp & Go project is looking for more young Kansans to interview as part of its effort to develop a framework designed to engage, empower, retain and recruit young people in rural Kansas.

Governor Kelly on Monday announced that RDG Planning & Design–a consultancy based out of Omaha–will head up the state’s first comprehensive housing needs assessment in 27 years.
Kelly said that the shortage of quality, affordable housing the state of Kansas, particularly in rural communities, is serving as a barrier to the state’s growth and development. She added that the housing assessment will offer a starting point to create a positive impact on Kansas communities and provide a higher quality of life for every member of the community.
RDG Planning and design will conduct an in-depth process that will assess current housing opportunities, identify goals, and aid in the development of strategic initiatives to help guide future housing development efforts statewide.

During this time of year, we take time to reflect on the previous year and try to focus on the good things that happened. Even in 2020 there must have been some good things, right?
We all know it’s difficult to focus more on the good moments, than the bad. I often think about knocking on doors or holding mobile listening sessions in the district. I’d have a great day of conversations with folks who were friendly and respectful. It’d be just one conversation that didn’t go well, that would continue nagging at me. That may be why most of us never make it as professional golfers or placekickers in the NFL.
