Moore: A missed opportunity?

Moore: A missed opportunity? In the 2018 election, there were two leading candidates for Secretary of state. Republican Scott Schwab, a Fort Hays graduate, had run a small business, worked as a marketing consultant and sales trainer for a pharmaceutical company. He served several terms in the Kansas House of Representatives. His opponent was Democrat Brian McClendon. McClendon grew up in Lawrence and graduated the University of Kansas with a degree in electrical engineering. He was hired by Google as an Engineering Director, promoted to Vice President of Earth Viewer that formed the basis of Google Earth and holds over 21 issued patents. He retained ties with KU serving on the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science advisory board. Returning to Lawrence in 2017 he decided to run for Secretary of State.

After enduring the pandemic for so many months, constituents are calling my office who are angry, frustrated and scared, New York Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo said. Unauthorized link leads to cancelled COVID-19 vaccination appointments

Statewide scheduling confusion On Thursday, the state said the now-cancelled vaccination appointments at the former Audelicious and five other sites were made after an “unauthorized” link was shared on social media this week. The other sites included a Binghamton University property in Johnson City; the University at Buffalo South Campus; Plattsburgh International Airport; SUNY Potsdam and Stony Brook University on Long Island. None of those sites were accepting appointments yet, leading to the cancellations. On Friday, state officials said about 22,000 appointments were nullified, with about 20,000 of them at Stony Brook, 1,500 in Utica and 800 in Binghamton. It has come to our attention that an unpublished scheduling link was shared without authorization on social media this week, said Marcy Stevens, general counsel for the state Office of Information Technology Services, in a statement Thursday night.
