A spokeswoman for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) announced Friday that the UAE has not provided evidence that Sheikha Latifa, the daughter of Dubai s ruler, is alive as the office had previously requested the Gulf State.
OHCHR spokeswoman Marta Hurtado added in a press statement in Geneva that the UN body sought to meet with the UAE ambassador in Geneva to discuss the issue of the princess, while intending to inquire about her sister Shamsa as well.
UN is ‘very concerned’ about Princess Latifa’s situation and still waiting for ‘proof of life’
The United Arab Emirates has not proven that Princess Latifa bint Mohammed Al Maktoum, the missing daughter of Dubai’s ruler, is alive, the United Nations has said.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said Friday it has asked the UAE for “proof of life” for the Princess, but has not received it.
“We haven’t got any proof of life, and we would like one. One that is clear, compelling evidence that she’s alive. And our first concern for us is to be sure of that,” spokeswoman Marta Hurtado told a briefing in Geneva. “We tried to set up a meeting between senior officials, with the new ambassador of the UAE to the UN in Geneva. In principle, the mission have accepted these requests, but we have no fixed date yet.”

Copenhagen, Apr 9 (Prensa Latina) The Danish Government s decision to strip Syrian refugees of their residency permits has generated criticism from the United Nations, local media reported on Friday.
This is the first European country to make such a decision, contrary to the position of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which requested that the protection to migrants is maintained.
Last year, 94 of 273 cases did not get a residency permit in Denmark, according to the latest report from the Danish Migration Service, which dates from January and adds that some refugees were interned in detention centers.
