+ March 12, 2021 JUSTICE Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Thursday, March 11, 2021, said he will endorse the investigation into the killing of activists in Calabarzon to the inter-agency committee tasked to prosecute politically motivated killings.
Guevarra was referring to the inter-agency committee on extra-legal killings and forced disappearance, torture and other grave violation on the right to life, liberty and security of persons, which was created by Administrative Order (AO) 35 of 2012.
He said there was “sufficient evidence that the victims were members of cause-oriented groups carrying out legitimate dissent.”
Under the AO 35 mechanism, the conduct of investigation will be led by a prosecutor. The “special” investigating team will also be composed of law enforcers.

Thank you for this opportunity to brief you on the links between conflict and hunger an urgent and important issue. Today, I have one simple message: If you don’t feed people, you feed conflict. Conflict drives hunger and famine, and hunger and famine drive conflict.
When a country or region is gripped by conflict and hunger, they become mutually reinforcing. They cannot be resolved separately. Hunger and poverty combine with inequality, climate shocks, sectarian and ethnic tensions and grievances over land and resources, to spark and drive conflict.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) notes a significant improvement in the security situation in eastern Ukraine compared to the previous reporting period after the agreement to strengthen the ceasefire regime came into force on July 27, 2020, according to a new report from the Office.
Three civilians were injured as a result of active hostilities during this reporting period and no one was killed. However, OHCHR is concerned about the persistent high number of civilian casualties, including children, caused by mine explosions and explosive remnants of war, said head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Matilda Bogner at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.

A human rights organisation affiliated with the Yemeni Houthi group has reported that the movement is responsible for killing and wounding dozens of African migrants and refugees in a detention centre in Sana a last Sunday.
This came in a statement issued by the Mwatana Organisation for Human Rights on Wednesday, of which
Anadolu Agency obtained a copy.
The organisation stated that the Houthi group: Caused dozens of deaths and injuries after a fatal fire broke out in a detention centre crowded with African migrants and refugees in Sana a on 7 March.
