Supreme Court conservatives block challenge to Trump s removal of undocumented immigrants from census
The Supreme Court on Friday decided it s too early to challenge President Trump s attempt to discount undocumented immigrants from the census.
Over the summer, Trump issued a dubiously legal executive order that would stop undocumented immigrants from counting toward congressional apportionment and federal funding determined by the census. Several states challenged the move in court, but on Friday, the Supreme Court handed Trump at least a temporary victory.
The court s conservatives â three of them appointed by Trump â united in a 6-3 decision, saying the states challenge was not suitable for adjudication at this time. The majority added that it expressed no view on the merits of the constitutional and related statutory claims presented, merely that it was too early to make a decision. FDA authorizes Moderna s COVID vaccine for emergency use
The Food and Drug Administration authorized a second COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use. The new Moderna vaccine is similar to Pfizer s which was authorized for use last week. It also requires two doses, but it does not need to be kept as cold as Pfizer s.
FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn says delivery could begin nationwide by Monday. Unlike the Pfizer vaccine, Moderna s is approved for use only in adults.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell were given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday as part of an effort to convince Americans the shots are safe and effective. Today, with confidence in science & at the direction of the Office of the Attending Physician, I received the COVID-19 vaccine, Pelosi said in a tweet. As the vaccine is being distributed, we must all continue mask wearing, social distancing & other science-based steps to save lives & crush the virus.
Less than an hour later, McConnell followed with his own tweet announcing he has received his first dose of the vaccine. The Kentucky Republican pointed out that in addition to boosting confidence, members of Congress were being inoculated as part of a plan to ensure continuity of government.
