Aggrieved MenzGold customers kick against approval of Ken Ofori Atta as Finance Minister

We the undersigned, the Alliance For Social Equity and Public Accountability-ASEPA, the Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold-COAM, the Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of GoldCoast Securities, the Coalition of Aggrieved Savings and Loans Customers-CASLOC officially petitions the appointment committee of Parliament relative to the President’s nomination of Mr.Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister-designate.
On the 22nd of January, 2021, the Presidency issued a communiqué informing the general public of the submission of a list of nominees to Parliament through the Speaker to be considered and vetted for the various ministerial portfolios.

The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mr Mahama Ayariga, who was standing trial over alleged procurement breaches in an ambulance purchase has been acquitted and discharged by the Accra High Court.
Mr Ayariga together with six others were charged by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for contravening the procurement Act.
It was the first corruption alleged case filed by the OSP.
Graphic Online’s court reporter, Emmanuel Ebo Hawkson, reports that the seven were however acquitted and discharged Friday, May 7, 2021 by the High Court, presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare–Botwe, after it upheld a submission of no case filed by the defence lawyers.
Mr Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, and six others, accused of procurement breaches in respect of an ambulance acquisition have been acquitted and discharged by an Accra High Court.
Ayariga and six others were freed after the court upheld a submission of no case filed by lawyers of the accused persons.
The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central and six others were charged by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) breaching the procurement Act .
Accused persons case, is one of the cases filed by the OSP before the court presided over by Justice Mrs Afia Serwa Asare- Botwe.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has forwarded the nomination of Mr Kissi Agyebeng as Special Prosecutor to the Speaker of Parliament for vetting and approval.
This was after the President had accepted the nomination from the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mr Godfred Yeboah Dame, under section 13(3) of Act 959 for consideration as the second occupant of the Office of Special Prosecutor.
A statement issued and signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin, in Accra yesterday said the President by a letter to the Speaker, Mr Alban Bagbin, dated April 29, 2021, sought Parliament s approval of the appointment.
