The Minister for Justice and Attorney General-designate, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has stated that the Government, through the Ministry of Justice and Attorney put the interest of the state first and not the interests of any individual, organization, or group of persons when putting together the Agyapa Royalties transaction.
According to him, there are no vitiating factors about the transaction and argued that the Finance Minister, his Deputy and promoters of Agyapa were unfairly criticized in the controversial report of the Special Prosecutor.
He assured that the transaction, intended to monetize some of Ghana’s gold royalties, was done in the national interest and in accordance with the laws of the land.

Discussants at a forum on public expectations of the second-term mandate of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have urged the President to be firm in reducing corruption and indiscipline and also ensure good governance.
In separate submissions, they said corruption and bad leadership were part of the foundational challenges hindering the socio-economic development of the country.
The forum was organised by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) in Accra yesterday on the topic: What s new, Mr President? Expectations in the second term .
The discussions were led by the Director of Research and Policy at the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Dr Kwabena Otoo; a former Minister of Finance, Mr Seth Terkper; the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr Yofi Grant, and the Director of Research at the IEA, Dr John Kwakye.
The Internal Audit Agency (IAA) will, from this year, refer people cited for corruption in quarterly audit reports to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (SP) and the Attorney-General’s (A-G’s) Department for prosecution.
The agency has also resolved to publish the names of institutions that fail to submit their quarterly internal audit reports to the public financial watchdog, in accordance with the law.
Those measures, the IAA said, would ensure the speedy resolution of alleged corrupt practices in the public sector, deter people from such practices and also entrench efficiency and compliance with the law.
The Director-General of the IAA, Dr Eric Oduro Osae, disclosed this to the Daily Graphic in an interview on the sidelines of the launch of the 2020 Financial Year Audit in Accra yesterday.
