He was initially released on $5,000 bail with a condition that he attend all court sessions. But a trial judge issued a bench warrant when Mecca missed a Feb. 29, 2016, hearing, and he was jailed for almost eight weeks.
According to the appellate ruling, Mecca said he twice called Kaigh’s office about a health issue in advance of the hearing.
In the first call, made on Feb. 24 from an emergency department’s waiting room, Mecca told Kaigh’s secretary that he would miss the upcoming hearing. Mecca said he left a message for Kaigh the next day, asking if an adjournment had been granted.

Dear Katie,
I am hoping you might be able to help my elderly mother, for whom I have power of attorney. She took out two investments with National Savings & Investments back in 2015, which were called “65+ Guaranteed Growth Bonds”. Both investments were for £10,000. The issue is that apparently there is no trace of one of the investments.
