Sparrow: 4 drug-related deaths in Ionia County in 2020 IONIA An annual report revealed four drug-related deaths in Ionia County in 2020.  Sparrow Forensic Pathology released its 2020 annual report on drug-related deaths in the five counties where the health system serves as medical examiner. The full report is available on Sparrow’s website.  The report showed four drug-related deaths in Ionia County last year. It’s a decrease of seven from 2019.  “As the Office of the Medical Examiner for the five counties (Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella and Shiawassee), Sparrow is nationally accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners to perform autopsies, postmortem examinations, and on-scene forensic death investigations as an important part of the investigation process,” according to a news release.

Cold Case Unit solves manslaughter case from 2018 On December 5, 2018 Kim Zaheer called 9-1-1 to report that her 85-year-old mother, Frances King, needed an ambulance and that she was not breathing.  The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office sent deputies and paramedics to the scene; however, when they arrived at the residence, they reported to Historic City News that they discovered King, deceased. Further investigation revealed that King was extremely malnourished.  It appeared that she had not eaten in a long time. Deputies also reported the living conditions inside King’s bedroom were “extremely bad” and the odor of feces and urine was unbearable.

Police Now Say Ellsworth Woman s Death Not Suspicious

The Maine Department of Public Safety has identified a woman whose body was found on Tuesday, and now say the death does not appear suspicious. Kathie Cote was found deceased in her home on Tuesday, when police were asked to do a wellbeing check. Originally, it appeared that the death may have been suspicious, so officials scheduled an autopsy with the Office of the Medical Examiner. The examination was completed on Wednesday, but the determination of cause of death is pending, while officials await the results of toxicology tests. However, police say, at this point, it does not show anything suspicious.
