She became the CEO of Philanthropy Northwest in 2017. On February 23, 2021, President Joe Biden (D) nominated Ahuja to serve as director of the Office of Personnel and Management. Ahuja graduated summa cum laude from Spelman College with a B.A. in political science in 1993. She earned a J.D. cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1998. From 1999 to 2002, Ahuja was a trial attorney at the civil rights division of the U.S. Department of Justice. She then taught at the American University Washington College of Law as an adjunct professor while working as the executive director of the National Asian Pacific American Women s Forum.
