Ervin keynote speaker for WIU Black History Month event Feb. 2 Office of University Relations Weatern Illinois University MACOMB As part of the 2021 celebration of Black History Month at Western Illinois University, University of Missouri-Columbia Associate Professor Keona Ervin will deliver the keynote address, Reimagining Liberation: Black Feminism from the Combahee River Collective to the Movement for Black Lives, virtually from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2. The address will provide an overview of the organizing work of radical Black feminists from the 1970s to present. It will include a discussion of the ways Black feminism has uniquely shaped and critiqued movements for social democracy.

Marquette University eliminates 39 positions to address shortfalls Share Last updated on January 22nd, 2021 at 04:38 pm Marquette University eliminated 39 staff positions this week as it continues to cut costs amid the COVID-19 pandemic. President Michael Lovell did not specify in an announcement Friday which staff positions were affected but said they do not involve any tenured or tenure-track faculty losing their jobs. The university is also eliminating three vice president positions after deciding to consolidate its offices of Economic Engagement, Marketing and Communication, and Public Affairs. Those offices will now be under the umbrella of the new Office of University Relations, which will be led by vice president and general counsel Paul Jones.

January 15, 2021 | The impact of COVID-19 and opportunities for Wisconsin agribusinesses are topics for the upcoming Wisconsin Agricultural Outlook Forum, which will be held virtually on Tuesday, January 26. The forum features both academic and industry leaders and is sponsored by the UW–Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), Division of Extension, Office of University Relations, and several organizations and associations. The 2021 forum, organized by UW–Madison’s Renk Agribusiness Institute, will be live-streamed on the Institute’s YouTube page and will run from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. This year’s program will cover the situation and outlook for dairy, corn and soybeans, livestock and meat, and farm income in Wisconsin. For each agricultural industry, sessions will include brief information about economic trends and forecasts, as well as a forward-looking panel discussion featuring agricultural industry members about the impacts on and opportunities
