Defence Force personnel depart for St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Port of Spain: Fifty (50) members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) departed Trinidad and Tobago this morning, Tuesday April 13, 2021 to provide humanitarian and relief assistance to St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
Officials comprising personnel from Engineers, infantry/provost, medical and logistics left on board the Galleons Passage at approximately 7:00 a.m. They will be stationed in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for two weeks, in the first instance.
Representatives from the Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society; the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA); and members of the media also departed on the Galleons Passage.

SEWA TT, local supermarkets start fund to help volcano victims

ABOUT 2,000 families in St Vincent and the Grenadines displaced or otherwise affected by the eruption of La Soufriere volcano will receive a bucket with essential items if SEWA TT reaches its target.
SEWA TT (Serving Everyone With Affection International TT) on Sunday teamed up with the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago at Super Quality Supermarket in Trincity to launch a relief effort which will allow the public to help fill the bucket by making a financial donation at one of the many leading participating supermarkets.
They include all branches of Better Deal Supermarket, Best Deal Foods, Croisée/Chase Mart, Massy Stores, MS Food City Supermarket, Park View Supermarket, Persad s D’ Food King, PC Stop N Shop Supermarket, S&S Persad Supermarket, Super Quality, Tru Valu Supermarket, West Bees Supermarket, and Xtra Foods.

Port of Spain: The Ministry of National Security has been coordinating the Government’s assistance to our brothers and sisters in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and advises as follows:-
- We will be deploying fifty (50) Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) to SVG on Tuesday 13 April, 2021. This contingent of the TTDF will comprise of personnel from Engineers, infantry/ provost, medical and logistics. The TTDF contingent will be stationed in SVG for two weeks in the first instance;
- The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), Ministry of National Security, has been coordinating efforts to collect supplies to be carried for SVG and these will be sent to SVG on Tuesday 13 April and Wednesday 14 April, 2021. Agencies continue to drive relief efforts to support the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines
Following the eruption of the La Soufrière Volcano, the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, through the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), is hosting a relief collection drive as part of our ongoing response and relief efforts in support of St Vincent and the Grenadines. Through this initiative, the national community can once again demonstrate our true Caribbean solidarity by providing much needed relief items to many persons and families during this critical time.
Persons and organisations who are interested in donating to the relief collection drive are asked to follow the Immediate Needs List provided by the National Emergency Management Organisation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
