ORANGE The Police Department is in the middle of a series of patrol and education campaigns funded by a state grant.
Police Chief James Sullivan explained he received $12,000 from the state Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office of Grants and Research to create five month-long campaigns in which overtime officers have a primary traffic law focus while on patrol. These campaigns focus on distracted driving, impaired driving and speeding. The grant reimburses the town for the officers’ overtime pay.
