WASHINGTON - Several U.S. Capitol Police officers have been suspended and more than a dozen others are under investigation for suspected involvement with or inappropriate support for the demonstration last week that turned into a deadly riot at the Capitol, according to members of Congress, police officials and staff members briefed on the developments.
Alien Smuggler Shoots at Border Patrol Agents in Wild Chase
BRACKETTVILLE, TX – Smugglers fired several rounds at Border Patrol agents during a lengthy vehicle pursuit, Jan. 3.
Early Sunday morning, Border Patrol agents attempted to stop a suspected alien smuggler on Ranch Road 334 near Brackettville. The driver subsequently pulled over and fired a weapon at agents from the vehicle before driving away. The vehicle, a black Chevrolet SUV was spiked by local law enforcement partners in Real County and, when the vehicle came to a stop, the driver fled on foot.
A female suspected smuggler and several illegal aliens were located inside the cab of the vehicle arrested. The male driver, a citizen of Mexico was tracked through the brush and later arrested without incident.

A local family is pushing the National Park Service for accountability, after a ranger fatally shot their son during a March traffic stop.
Montrose native Charles âGageâ Lorentz was 25. He was headed home from Texas on March 21, and was to stop at Carlsbad Caverns National Park to meet a friend. There, he was pulled over by a park ranger. Video footage obtained by KOBTV in New Mexico shows part of the encounter between Lorentz and the ranger, identified as Robert Mitchell. The encounter ends with Lorentz being shot twice, once in the chest.
