Venezuelan Foreign Minister condemns US measures against Cuba
Caracas, Dec 22 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza on Tuesday condemned the new unilateral coercive measures taken by the United States against Cuba. From Venezuela we reject the new and always illegal unilateral measures by the agonizing US government against the brotherly people of Cuba. In the past four years, not even the most eager hawks could cope with the dignity and fighting capacity of the Cuban people. They failed, wrote the Foreign Minister on Twitter.
Arreaza s statements support those made by his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez, who published a message on Twitter, rejecting the measures announced by Mike Pompeo.

On December 14, 2020, the U.S. Department of State initiated a series of sanctions pursuant to Section 231 of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) that target the Turkish Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). The sanctions deny new U.S. export licenses to SSB and limit the SSB’s access to credit from U.S. and international financial institutions. In addition, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated several principal executive officers of SSB as Specially Designated Nationals (SDNs). However, the U.S. action is calibrated, and does not designate SSB or its affiliates as SDNs, nor does it apply broader sanctions on Turkey or the Turkish defense industry.

Cuban Foreign Minister rejects new US coercive measures
Havana, Dec 21 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Monday rejected the new measures announced by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to tighten the blockade policy against Cuba.
On his Twitter account, the foreign minister denounced the measures adopted by the Trump administration against the companies Gaesa, Fincimex and Kave Coffee S.A. Cuba will get ahead no matter how many entities they include in their spurious lists. Every US foreign policy action reinforces the isolation and international discredit to which Trump and his team led it, Rodriguez wrote.
