Some would argue, too, that a marked spike in opioid overdose deaths could be linked to COVID. But violent deaths remained big news all year. Here are the top five stories for 2020: 1. According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, they identified that suspects using the alias of “Qufar” and “Pirate” were involved in the shooting death of Isaac Patino. Detectives said they were able to identify “Qufar” as 28-year-old Abdiqafar Mohamud Mohamud, from Seattle, Washington.
