PCA 2021: Lunch with halfwheel Day 2
Day 2’s lunch was a little different, beginning with the fact that I actually snapped a picture of the food. Taste-wise, the pork loin plate filled with string beans, potatoes, and a bun, all bathed in brackish gravy harkened back to my old days at the Boston Market drive-thru in the Atlantic City area. The team more or less ate together today, which was nice, though it ended up being a silent group activity, kind of like church.

PCA 2021: Alec Bradley
The Alec Bradley booth was a bit scaled down this year, but still retained much of the same feel as years past, with its signature red overhead banner helping to easily identify it amidst the show floor, and a squared-off design with two open sides beckoning retailers from the aisles.
As for what was inside, the company joined in with several other brands in releasing a limited edition cigar just for retailers who attended the show, as well as showing off the new 24-count packaging format that will begin rolling out in the coming weeks. Other than that, one line is getting a new set of names for its vitolas.
Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper Now Produced in Honduras
The Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper has a new home for its production, as it has been moved out of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic and into Tabacos de Oriente, the Plasencia-owned facility in Danlí, Honduras.
The reason was due to strained capacity at La Alianza, according to a report by
Cigar Aficionado. Perez-Carrillo told the publication that juggling the needs of his company with Alec & Bradley’s needs was a challenge, and that the shift will alleviate a number of headaches for everybody. Perez-Carrillo has worked with Alec and Bradley Rubin on developing and producing the cigar, which debuted in 2019.
