Arroyo in Worcester
Second baseman Christian Arroyo (left hand contusion) took batting practice in Worcester ahead of the WooSox’ series opener against Buffalo on Tuesday afternoon, Cora said. The club may look to activate Arroyo for a rehab assignment in Worcester in the coming days but will wait to see how his hand feels Thursday evening before deciding on a next step.

Two outta three ain’t bad!
That’s what the Oakland A’s settled for in their road series win over the Boston Red Sox, after losing the finale Thursday by an 8-1 margin to miss the chance for a sweep at Fenway Park.
This game was over as quickly as it began. A’s starter
Sean Manaea got blitzed from his very first batter, allowing a parade of hard contact that ended in a homer and a three-run 1st inning. It happened again in the 2nd, with another dinger and another three-spot. When Boston loaded the bases again in the 3rd with nobody out, the southpaw finally got the hook, followed by the decent fortune of only one of those runners later coming around to score.
MLB Trade Rumors
Rays infielder/outfielder
Yoshi Tsutsugo will lose his roster spot in the near future, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times observes. Although the Rays made a fairly expensive commitment to Tsutsugo prior to 2020, the former Nippon Professional Baseball standout hasn’t lived up to a two-year, $12MM guarantee. This season has been especially rough for the 29-year-old, who has batted a miserable .167/.244/.218 with zero home runs in 87 plate appearances. The Rays still owe Tsutsugo around $5.5MM, Topkin points out, but may decide to move on anyway. Tsutsugo could stay in the organization if they send him down, but he has an assignment clause in his contract and would have to sign off on a demotion. Otherwise, Tsutsugo could collect the remaining money he’s due and try his luck in free agency again.
