Just a day after Victoria declared a ‘donut day’ of zero locally acquired COVID infections, a new cluster has emerged and six new locally acquired cases have been recorded:
Reported yesterday: 6 new local cases and no new cases acquired overseas.
– 17,229 vaccine doses were administered
– 27,279 test results were received
Of the six new locally-acquired cases, investigations are continuing into three cases (including one reported yesterday). The remaining three cases are all linked to the current outbreaks and were in quarantine during their infectious period.
Of biggest concern, a female teacher at the Al-Taqwa College in Truganina has tested positive for the virus. Health authorities are concerned that the teacher may have been infectious within the school and in the broader community since 28 July. Accordingly, the Islamic school has been closed, with all staff and students orde
Victoria s health department will put millions of residents into their sixth hard lockdown rather than implement rapid antigen testing at Covid-19 hotspots.

VICTORIANS will once again be forced into stay at home orders after the state government announced a snap seven day lockdown set to begin at 8pm tonight.
Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed the news of this sixth lockdown at a press conference this afternoon.
“No Victorian wants to be in this position. We know that the Delta variant moves faster than anything our public health experts have seen before – and we know what we need to do to drive it down once again,” Mr Andrews said.
“I want to make it very clear, we only get one chance to make difficult decisions that are the right decision.”
