US, Canada coast guards working to ease flooding at St. Clair River

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZO â Officials have announced a flood warning along the St. Clair River. The warning will remain in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday and is due to heavy ice jams.
Now after numerous calls from residents about flooding, coast guards in the U.S. and Canada are working together to address the issue. They ask that resident contact their local emergency managers, who will put reports through to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the coast guard to address in the most efficient manner, a release states.

The coronavirus pandemic has irrevocably changed life in Michigan killing thousands, disrupting everyone s lives, and harming or destroying businesses, big and small.
It began on March 10 when Michigan s first two coronavirus cases were confirmed. Within days, schools would close, office workers and others would begin transitioning to working from home, and on March 16, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer orders bars, restaurants, theaters, and casinos to close and restricts gatherings to less than 50 people forcing thousands into unemployment and businesses scrambling to stay afloat.
And in another week, as people began dying from the virus, the governor issued the stay-at-home order banning all public and private gatherings of any size outside of a family home.
The big story for 2020 is of course the pandemic and how cities, schools and businesses adjusted to the crisis. Still, in looking back there were also other worthy headlines. The volunteers who selflessly made masks for front-liners, police raises and a successful passing of the first ever police millage in Memphis and the strong voice of a young college student from Richmond who wants to see training and curriculum related to diversity and racism introduced at Richmond Community Schools.
