Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple says he's hoping the coronavirus outbreak at the county jail has hit the high point, and numbers will continue to decrease.

New York State Police say there are no specific credible threats against the building in downtown Albany, but are nevertheless stepping up patrols and taking precautions to harden security.
At a Friday afternoon briefing at State Police Troop G headquarters, Troop commander, Major Christopher West says steps have been taken to increase security at the Capitol, including closing one of two main entrances on State Street, and setting up concrete barriers to divert traffic away from the building.

On Wednesday, Jan. 13, sheriffâs investigators say they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which the driver was wearing no seatbelt in Watervliet. During the course of the interview and investigation, investigators noted they discovered a quantity of concentrated cannabis in the form of edibles and cartridges, a quantity of marihuana inside the vehicle and more than $2,600.
The driver, Kaleb N. Parshall, and his passenger Nayquaree K. Robinson, 19, were arrested and transported to the Sheriffâs Public Safety Building for processing.
