Mont Pleasant High School and SUNY Schenectady graduate Charlie Post, a sound engineer with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, won a Grammy Award Sunday for Best Engineered Album, Classical.
Post, along with David Frost and mastering engineer Silas Brown, won for Shostakovich: Symphony No. 13, “Babi Yar” by Riccardo Muti & Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
After her third win at Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song on Sunday, she tied with Alison Krauss for the most gongs for a singer or female artist, but her award for Best R&B Performance put her one better.
Hitmaker Jimmy Jam made the announcement as he presented the award to Beyonce, stating, “History has just been made. Breaking the all-time record for the most Grammy wins ever by any female artist or any singer, male or female, the Grammy goes to Beyonce.”
The stunned star took the mic at the Grammy and said, “As an artist, I believe it’s my job – and all of our jobs- to reflect the times. It’s been such a difficult time, so I wanted to uplift, encourage and celebrate all of the beautiful black queens and kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world.

David Alan Miller didn’t think he would win a Grammy. The music director of the Albany Symphony was out food shopping and was walking back to his parked car when his daughter yelled to him from it that the symphony had won the Grammy in the best classical instrumental solo category. The piece that won was a viola concerto composed by Christopher Theofanidis, and performed by violist Richard O’Neill.
“I m thrilled. And I was quite stunned by it because I had really emotionally prepared myself not to win for a number of reasons,” said Miller, who had been nominated for a Grammy six times before, winning only once before this.
