Idaho s COVID-19 vaccine rates still among lowest in the U.S.; state reports 6 deaths Nicole Blanchard, The Idaho Statesman
May 25 Idaho health officials on Monday reported 329 new cases of COVID-19 and six deaths in a state that has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country.
The 329 new cases reported since Friday are in line with case numbers in recent days, with a quarter of the new cases reported in Ada County (52,644 total).
Officials also reported six new deaths related to COVID-19. One new death was reported in each of the following counties: Bannock (110 total), Canyon (299 total), Jefferson (31 total), Kootenai (210 total), Lewis (10 total) and Owyhee (30 total). To date, 2,086 Idahoans have died of COVID-19.
May 19 Idaho's daily COVID-19 case count remained low on Tuesday, with the state adding 193 cases, according to data from the Department of Health and Welfare. Idaho's case count has fallen in May. On May 3 the state's moving seven-day average was 186 daily cases. That average has been between 158 and 167 since May 5, according to the data. New cases have yet to fall to levels seen this time .

Oregonians who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer need to wear masks or social distance in most public spaces, whether inside or outside. The announcement came Thursday by Gov. Kate Brown, who said the move was in line with the Centers for Disease Controls new guidance issued earlier that day.
âIt is yet another sign that, if we all continue to do our part, the pandemic is coming closer to an end,â said Brown in a video statement.
The CDC says exceptions include public transportation, hospitals, health-care clinics, correctional facilities and long-term care facilities. Per that guidance, Oregon will continue to require masks and social distancing in those circumstances, according to Brown.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has formally adopted a recommendation to approve the Pfizer vaccine for 12- to 15-year olds.
Major Idaho health clinics are already taking walk-ins and making appointments for this age group. Systems here have been ready for a week for this final go-ahead.

May 12 National entities have awarded Idaho health officials funding to support ongoing vaccination efforts in a state where coronavirus caseload numbers are improving, but vaccine resistance means Idaho is lagging national averages.
On Tuesday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that it is awarding $22 million to Idaho s Office of Emergency Management, according to a news release. The money is meant to help state and local agencies that have had to increase staffing, purchase supplies and equipment, or divert resources to vaccinate their populations.
