Cancer cases in NE to rise by 13 5% by 2025: NCDIR- ICMR study | India News

GUWAHATI: Cancer cases in the northeast are projected to rise by a steep 13.5% by 2025, a research by the National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR) under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) revealed on Thursday. The projected number of cancer cases for the year 2025 is estimated to be 57,131 (30,985 in males and 26,146 in females). The situation is even more alarming in Assam where another ICMR estimate shows that one in four men and one in six women of the state are at the risk of developing cancer, the highest in India, Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) director, Dr Amal Chandra Kataki, said during an World Cancer Day event here on Thursday.

Mikko was born on May 6, 1950 in Lahti, Finland, and grew up on the north side of Thunder Bay, previously Port Arthur. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Applied Science as a geological engineer (1974) and a Masters of engineering (1984) as a geotechnical engineer. He was a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario til his passing and had also been previously a member in BC and NWT.

He was born in Dunkirk on Feb. 17. 1955, the son of Louis and the late Geraldine Ziegler Tom, also known as “Zig” or “Ziggy” was a 1973 graduate of Dunkirk High School. After graduation he began work at the former Plymouth Tube Company in Dunkirk. From there his eagerness to learn and his vast knowledge of the aluminum and extrusions business led him to various positions in Maryland, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and finally in Union, Mo., where he held the title of president of Gateway Extrusions of Union.

He was 66 years old. “He never had a bad word to say about anybody,” said his nephew, Zack Turner.
