Allegheny County to administer Pfizer vaccine at Castle Shannon site

The Allegheny County Health Department will start administering the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at its Castle Shannon distribution site next week. County officials said the health department received four trays of the Pfizer vaccine to be used for first doses. Appointments are required to receive a dose and individuals must be aged 65 and older, due to limited vaccine supply. Second-dose clinics for the Moderna vaccine are also being scheduled this week for people who had gotten their first dose at the department’s Monroeville distribution site between Feb. 1-4. Emails with links containing second-dose registration links will be sent out this week to those individuals. The second-dose clinic will also take place in Monroeville between March 1-4.

Appointments are for those 65 and older only and can be made online beginning Friday at 9 a.m. on link s that will be provided on the county vaccination page. Those 65 and older without online access can make appointments by calling the 211 line beginning at 9 a.m. as well. All appointments are for the Castle Shannon VFD Banquet Hall at 3600 Library Road. Appointments are required. There is no on-site registration or walk-up appointments. Any person arriving at the site without an appointment, or who is not 65 and older, will be turned away.

A short time later, he said in a court declaration, pod workers and then inmates on his pod started to experience symptoms as well. By Feb. 1, Leonard, 28, who has sleep apnea, a deviated septum and allergies, said he developed a fever, sore throat and hot and cold sweats. Within two days, he said he had lost his sense of taste and smell, had body aches and difficulty breathing.
