In an interview with
Entertainment Weekly,
Lil Nas X says he is no longer scared of alienating his straight fans. As previously reported, the entertainer s video for his single “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” caused a lot of controversy. He said, “At first I was really afraid of alienating any of my straight fans. But then it was kind of like, if they feel offended, they were never really here for me. They were here for whatever version of myself they made up in their head.”
He also spoke about never being afraid to clap back, saying, “I almost never want to start shooting at somebody who didn’t bring it to my doorstep, you know. But I kind of live for when somebody tries to get me and I’m ready to throw it back at them tenfold. Do I feel bad about it sometimes? Every now and then, but I feel less bad knowing that I didn’t start it. I try to never throw stones, but if somebody throws one at me, I’m throwing an entire house.”

Armie, 34, was seen enjoying a meal with four confidants at a tropical restaurant in the Cayman Islands.
The controversial actor had changed his look with a short buzzcut, and wore a gray tee-shirt and swimshorts.
The late-night comedy showcase produced a spin-off sketch of the chart-topping artist’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” music video early last month, spoofing the performer giving a lap dance to Jesus to “even things out” after grinding on Satan in the music video. Now, the rapper has landed the highly-coveted musical guest slot on the final episode of the 46th season of the series, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, who will play host.
“Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” is the first single off of Nas X’s forthcoming album, also titled
Montero, so the new song will likely be the second single to arrive off of the soon-to-be-released track list.
Lil Nas X has revealed it used to concern him that his sexuality and gay lyrics would “alienate” his straight fans. But now he could care less if folks are offended by his artistry.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the “Old Town Road” rapper opened up about his fear of not being accepted by heterosexual fans before he released his homoerotic Satan-themed “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” song.
“At first I was really afraid of alienating any of my straight fans,” he said. “But then it was kind of like, if they feel offended, they were never really here for me. They were here for whatever version of myself they made up in their head.”
