Justin Bieber can brag for another week that they have the biggest songs in the world. The most recent Billboard
Global charts finds their songs Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and Peaches holding tight to the top spots.
For Montero, the single remains in number one for a second consecutive week atop the
Billboard Global 200 while Peaches extends its four-week domination atop the chart s Global Excl U.S. ranking.
The two charts, which were launched in September, rank songs based off their collective sales and streaming performance around the world.
Lil Nas X has been in the headlines lately following his controversial music visual to his most recent single, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” The hip-hop artist has shared his truth in the media, coming out as a gay artist at the peak of his career in 2019. Recently, it seems as though some social media users feel that the music artist is bluffing for success.
“Y’all love saying i’m being gay for success but can’t name 5 successful gay male artists in the last 10 years to save your life,” he began.
Lil Nas X is responding to the narrative being put out by social media users that being gay or affiliating himself with the LGBTQIA community will boost his career. The rapper believes that gay people in the industry are usually not as successful as heterosexual figures, giving him no reason to have to fake his truth.

Lil Nas X took to Twitter to respond to people claiming that he came out as gay to boost his career.
He started out writing, y’all love saying I’m being gay for success but can’t name 5 successful gay male artists in the last 10 years to save your life. When a Twitter user claimed that he s using being Gay you’re entire identity and artistry, Lil Nas X responded, stating, it’s a million n as in the industry that make nothing but songs about women and y’all don’t complain. but i make my first song about a n a and now it’s my entire artistry. y’all crack me up man.
Lil Nas X has shut down the ridiculous theory that he’s only gay to sell records.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday (20 April), Lil Nas X wrote: “Y’all love saying I’m being gay for success but can’t name five successful gay male artists in the last 10 years to save your life.”
While most of his followers tried, and failed, to list five gay male artists, others continued to insist that the “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” singer’s “whole brand” was being gay.
One Twitter user, using the name Starbucks Spellman, had a confusing reaction to the tweet: “God you’re so sad, how do you not even realise you’re dissin all the gay artists that came before your a ?”
