Lil Nas X Asks Fans for Help Paying Nike After Satan Shoes Lawsuit On 4/9/21 at 12:07 PM EDT Lil Nas X has jokingly asked fans for help paying Nike after the sneaker company agreed a settlement in its lawsuit over the Satan Shoes. The footwear brand sued MSCHF Product Studio, an art collective, for trademark infringement after it released 666 pairs of modified Nike sneakers as a tie-in for the new Lil Nas X song and video Montero (Call Me By Your Name). Nike announced that MSCHF had agreed to buy back any Satan Shoes at their original retail price of $1,018 a pair, in order to remove the product from circulation.

Today, both Nike and MSCHF confirmed that they’ve agreed to settle the lawsuit over the much-talked-about sneakers. As part of the settlement, MSCHF will offer a voluntary recall to buy back any pairs of the “Satan Shoes” for their original retail prices in an effort to remove them from circulation. The same offer will be extended to customers who purchased the “Jesus Shoes,” a custom Air Max 97 release from MSCHF in 2019 that was said to have holy water from the River Jordan in its Air unit. We previously reported, the rapper announced his limited-edition “Satan” sneaker collection last month which features a pentagram and real human blood. He collaborated with the streetwear company MSCHF on the “Satan Shoes,” only 666 pairs of which were released for $1,018 a pop. According to PEOPLE, they sold out in less than a minute. Per Yahoo, the controversial kicks are modified Nike Air Max 97s, and reference Luke 10:18, a Bible verse about Satan’s fall from heaven. The human blood in the sole was drawn from members of the MSCHF team.
