UPDATE: Deputies identify pedestrian killed Thursday night
UPDATE (5/21) – The sheriff’s office identified the victim as 64-year-old Hilton Lucas.
UPDATE (11:15 p.m.) – A man is dead after being struck in a hit and run and then run over by a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputy vehicle Thursday night.
That’s according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.
A 911 call around 9 o’clock reported a person down in the 3000 block of Mercer University Drive.
“It was reported that the pedestrian had been fatally struck by a hit and run before deputies arrived,” the release said.
“It was also reported that a deputy accidentally struck the pedestrian while they were looking for them during the incident.”

BCSO: Teen in critical condition after shooting on New Clinton Road
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A teenager is in critical condition after a shooting outside a home Wednesday afternoon.
A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release says the shooting happened in the 2200 block of New Clinton Road just before 1 p.m.
Witnesses told deputies a fight broke out “between several subjects” and multiple firearms were pulled and fired.
17-year-old Shadaja Field was shot and taken to the hospital.
No one else was injured.

UPDATE: Afternoon shooting leaves man dead, suspect in custody
UPDATE (9:30 p.m.) – A man shot during an argument at a Macon motel Wednesday afternoon has died, and deputies say another man is in custody and charged with his murder.
A sheriff’s office news release says the shooting happened at Magnolia Court Motel, located in the 4700 block of Pio Nono Avenue. The incident was called in to the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at 3:15.
Witnesses told deputies two men got into an altercation at the motel, and one of them pulled out a handgun and shot the other.
After the shooting, the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Willie Lee Daniel III, fled the scene and crossed Pio Nono Avenue. Deputies eventually spotted and apprehended him, recovering a handgun in the process.
