COVID-19 deaths in Barbados at 18

Article by Social Share Barbados’ deaths related to the COVID-19 virus have now skyrocketed to 18, after two more elderly citizens passed away in the space of the last 48 hours. The country had entered 2021 with just seven cases, but the latest two make it 11 in less than a month. And Minister of Health Jeffrey Bostic, is quite concerned about the upsurge that is affecting the country as part of a second spike of the virus. In a statement released by Government’s Covid Communications Unit moments ago, it was confirmed that a third and fourth Barbadian have died between yesterday and this morning, bringing the death toll from the virus to 18.

Barbados records two more COVID-19 deaths

January 31, 2021 Today Barbados recorded the first double death from Covid-19 within a 24 hour period. Both deceased were patients of the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for a few days. The two Barbadians, a 55 year-old male and a 64 year-old female, died within an hour of each other this morning. Dr Corey Forde, Infectious Diseases  Specialist and the Consultant in Charge of Harrison Point, noted the similarities between the two cases. Both patients suffered from pre-existing, chronic non-communicable diseases. Both were experiencing shortness of breath for some days before seeking medical help at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Bostic: Death possibly related to COVID-19

Minister of Health Jeffrey Bostic announced today that health officials are investigating the death of an 84-year-old Barbadian man as possibly related to coronavirus (COVID)-19. He also said there is a young female “non Barbadian” in critical condition at Harrison Point.
