OTTAWA There is a low daily COVID-19 case count in Ottawa Wednesday, so low it s a negative figure, and Ottawa Public Health has offered an explanation. OPH reduced the total case count for the city by one case, to 27,334, announcing a new daily update of -1 cases. In a Twitter thread after the dashboard was updated, the health unit said there were actually 20 new cases added Wednesday, but 21 cases were removed from the local total. Every case goes through a quality assurance process. It takes a lot of time & effort, especially when you re in the middle of another resurgence and reporting 300+ cases per day. Sometimes, their work will find that a case previously reported in Ottawa wasn t ours, OPH said on Twitter.

Two new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health region on Sunday one in Tyendinaga Township and one in Prince Edward County.
Both cases resulted from close contact. There were also three recoveries leaving the total active cases in the region to 12 five in Belleville, two in each of Tyendinaga Township, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and Prince Edward County, with one in Quinte West.

H.J. McFarland Memorial Home is taking extra precautions in order to prevent a COVID-19 outbreak at the long-term care home.
“While we recognize the importance of residents connecting with their caregivers and support workers, we are urging people to be mindful of the provincewide shutdown and stay-at-home order by only visiting if absolutely necessary,” said Kyle Cotton, Executive Director, H.J. McFarland Memorial Home.
