Give CKD patients priority in vaccination programme

KUALA LUMPUR – The government has been urged to give priority to patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in its COVID-19 vaccination programme.
The call was jointly made by National Kidney Foundation chairman Datuk Dr Zaki Morad, Malaysian Society of Nephrology president Prof Dr Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor and Malaysian Society of Transplantation president Dr Rosnawati Yahya

They said this would reduce overcrowding in the Ministry of Health’s haemodialysis (HD) centres and help return some normalcy to HD centres run by private and non-governmental organisations.
They said priority should be given to groups such as patients on haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, patients with functioning kidney transplants and patients with CKD stage 3-4 (pre-dialysis).

PASIR MAS, Jan 30 The Emergency Management Technical Committee which was formed on January 16, made its first visit to Kelantan today to inspect the Malaysia-Thailand border.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, who is also the chairman of the committee said the visit was to look at the situation at the border, as well as measures to be taken to prevent Covid-19 infections from abroad.

THE newly formed Emergency Management Technical Committee made its first visit to Kelantan today to inspect the Malaysia-Thailand border in relation to its role in the admission of Covid-19 cases into the country.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Takiyuddin Hassan, who co-chairs the committee, said the visit was to assess the situation at the border and look into measures to be taken to prevent Covid-19 infections from abroad.

Kuala Lumpur: The use of government buildings and facilities as swab test and temporary deployment centres of civil servants to services in need of additional health and safety support is among measures to be taken by the authorities in the implementation and management of emergency.
Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali
(pic) said it was also among the proposals discussed by the Emergency Management Technical Committee and was agreed upon by the National Security Council Emergency Session.
The proposals were among the committee’s focuses on the mobilisation of the Federal and State Public Services’ resources, he said in a statement, Tuesday.
