Bengaluru, April 9 : Karnataka on Friday invoked provisions of the state Industrial Disputes Act to invalidate the indefinite strike call given by the Karnataka State Road Transport Employees League (KSRTEL) since April 6, throwing public transport across the state out of gear.

Bus services were affected in many parts of the state as drivers and conductors of the four road transport corporations began their indefinite strike over wage-related issues on Wednesday. Passengers travelling to and from distant areas and office-goers were the most affected.
Hundreds of commuters were left stranded at bus stations across the city, with BMTC buses staying off the roads. While some waited long hours at bus stations for privates buses, others looked for alternative arrangements. Some even opted to work from home or postpone their travel.
Mysore/Mysuru: The day two of
KSRTC strike seeking fulfilment of various demands continued to paralyse the city but today, people were not that affected as a few buses got onto the roads as the Government has threatened to withhold March salaries if the strike continued.
Over 15 to 20 Airavat and Rajahamsa buses carried people to places including Bengaluru, H.D. Kote, Periyapatna and Madikeri and a handful of the regular Saarige buses operated.
Private buses, maxi cabs and other transport services were seen operating in different parts of the city, coming to the rescue of stranded passengers. There were over 160 private buses that were ferrying people.

Railways too have chipped in by deciding to run special trains on certain routes to help the commuters aimed at clearing the upcoming Ugadi festival rush, in the wake of RTC workers strike.
