Eunice Wambari, an essential healthcare worker from Mississippi, was featured in a virtual sing-a-long with Demi Lovato in the 2021 presidential inauguration special.Wambari said producers of the inauguration special contacted her less than a week ago requesting that she record herself singing the Bill Withers song, Lovely day. And so she did, right in front of the state Capitol while also getting ready for work. The producers did not tell Wambari how she would be incorporated into the broadcast. She found out while watching the event live Wednesday night. I was shocked. I was screaming a little bit. I was just full of excitement, but also just honored to even be a part of such an important moment. Wambari says.She said she is happy to be recognized in such a big way as a singer and respiratory therapist on the front lines of the pandemic.The producers of the inauguration special reached out to Wambari after seeing her sing in one of our news clips from 16 WAPT.

HOUSTON – A Harvard Medical School professor and doctor of internal medicine published a poem as an ode to essential workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic and their families and it’s now circulating widely on social media.
Wendy Stead, MD authored the poem “An Essential Worker’s List of Pandemic Chores for the Kids”, written about the children of essential workers who were left home to take care of the chores, from laundry to schoolwork.
