PRINCE Philip has died at the age of 99, Buckingham Palace has said. The Duke of Edinburgh, who was married to Queen Elizabeth II for more than 70 years, passed away this morning at Windsor Castle. He was the longest serving consort in British history and his death comes shortly after he spent an extended period of time in hospital. He officially retired from public engagements in the summer of 2017. A statement from the palace read: It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
